Gerardo Acosta Obituary

On Friday, September 11th, 2020, Gerardo Acosta was called home at the age of 57.  He died peacefully with his beloved children by his side. The world has lost a great son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.

Gerardo was born on October 30th, 1962, in Mexico. He was a teacher there and came to Chicago in his early twenties. Here he started his own business in construction and worked for over 30 years.

If you talked to those who knew him, they’d all have great memories of him. He helped many come to Chicago, taught some the construction profession, welcomed you to his home if you needed a place to stay, or simply offered a helping hand if he was asked. Gerardo had a big loving and forgiving heart. His children learned the value of hard work and caring for others from his many examples.

Gerardo is survived by his children, Patricia and Gerardo; his grandchildren, Jose and Mya; his parents and siblings. His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident in his final moments.

His children, Patricia and Gerardo are asking people in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to The American Kidney Fund. https://fundraise.kidneyfund.org/fundraiser/2911608 This will honor his long fight against kidney failure. Your donation will go towards helping children and adults struggling with kidney disease.
